Short stop parking areas were deep in thick snow along parts of the route so be careful if you choose to leave the route. I drove a small Peugeot van which had me worried at first as I had never visited however the roads are well maintained with all snow cleared. The 90 mile route took around 3 hours which included plenty of stops. Venture into the Highlands by car, on foot or by train to admire the spectacular scenery made all the more special by the unique light in winter.I left Inverness in time to enter the national park in time to see the sun rise. Enjoy a mulled wine with some festive biscuits to keep warm as you stroll through a town in winter party mode. From November to January, explore the bustling Christmas market in Princes Street Gardens and in St Andrews Square.
